About the Prince Edward County Arts Council

Our Mission – PECAC is dedicated to promoting a vibrant arts community by acting as a catalyst for the creation and enjoyment of the arts, and to working collaboratively with those who share a common interest in leveraging the arts for the economic and social development of Prince Edward County.

Susanne Barclay

Past Chair and Co-Chair of Art in the County

  • Retired teacher of both language arts and drama for the York Region Board of Education
  • Consultant for the York Region Board for language arts and drama
  • Intermediate English Course Director for Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE)
  • Intermediate English Course Director, Concurrent Program, Faculty of Education, York University
  • Author of Language Arts texts – Galaxies (published by Addison Wesley_ and Echoes (published by Oxford University Press)
Flo Thompson 

Director-at-Large and Membership/Recruitment

  • After obtaining a liberal arts degree and raising three children worked first in children’s library in Deep River, Ontario. Then worked at University of New Brunswick Library, in Fredericton
  • At 50 returned to university to earn nursing degree.  Now retired from community nursing
  • Loves art and respects the abilities of all artists
  • Loves to bike, garden, and is an avid reader.
  • Volunteers with several local community organizations
Walter Thompson

  • Retired Nuclear Engineer and VP of mid-size Toronto-based engineering company
  • 15 or so years as Board member in two non-profits    
  • Likes music and art of almost all types, and plays guitar badly
  • Avid reader 
  • Loves to garden and seems always to have on-going home renovation project
Krista Dalby

  • Playwright, director and producer; recent productions include Unjustly, The Monster of Lake on the Mountain, and The History of Shadows. 
  • Co-director of Picton’s Firelight Lantern Festival
  • Can regularly be spotted at festivals around Ontario building Boxtopia (large-scale cardboard installations) or running art programming for kids
  • Runs Small Pond Arts with her husband, painter Milé Murtanovski, an art farm that hosts artists in residence, a gallery, and many joyous creative events, including the annual Scarecrow Festival.
  • Recipient of 2016 Arts Recognition Award, Quinte Arts Council

Sarah Moran

  • BA Hons. and MA in English Literature at the University of London. Post graduate work in 18C English poetry at the University of Oxford.
  • 34 years with J. Walter Thompson Co. Advertising in London, New York and Toronto, in account management and strategic planning
  • President of Enterprise Advertising (a division of JWT). Exec. VP of strategic services for JWT Canada, most recently for the successful SickKids “Believe” campaign, the U of T “Boundless” campaign and the Tylenol “Get Back to Normal” campaign.
  • Professional training at the Creative Problem Solving Institute of SUNY enabling the creation and running of brainstorming workshops.
  • Graduate of RIVA Institute in Washington DC, specializing in qualitative research techniques 

Nancy Mast

Dale Wainwright

  • Extensive experience as board member, presenter, project manager, QA manager, marketer, writer/editor,  and trainer  
  • Avid photographer – studied Film & Photography Ryerson University

Anne Preston

  • Coordinator of the Picton Purdy Party – a fundraising event to create a writers in residence program at Al Purdy’s Roblin Lake home

  • Member of the Helliconian Literacy Lecture Series
  • Participant in an ongoing memoir writing group/circle

Catherine Reilly

  • Trained in Interior Design at the University of  Manitoba (Bachelor of Interior Design 1978 and Master of Interior Design 2001)
  • Practiced commercial, institutional and exhibit  design for 20 years in Edmonton, Yellowknife, and Thunder Bay
  • Certificate in Museum Studies (Ontario Museum Association) and Manager/Curator of the Atikokan Centennial Museum 2006-2012
  • Various board positions including Yellowknife YWCA, NWT Community Services Board, Downtown Atikokan Renewal Committee, Atikokan  Horticultural Society 
  • Visual Artist with both group and solo shows in Yellowknife and Atikokan

Terry Culbert
